EFE offers young people more than just training.

Our unique model builds partnerships with employers, corporate sponsors and educators to develop training programs that align with local job market needs. Youth learn technical skills in high demand as well as language and soft skills such as workplace etiquette, problem solving and critical thinking skills that employers seek.

Overcoming social and gender barriers to employment is at the core of EFE’s mission. We actively recruit youth from low-income and socially excluded communities, and we strive for at least half of all EFE trainees to be young women.

To bring its innovations to scale and support systems-level change, EFE partners with universities and other education institutions in the region to enhance training content as well as career support services.

Over 2,050 companies, educational institutions, government ministries, community centers, corporations and others have partnered with EFE to create economic opportunity for unemployed Arab youth.

Several factors set EFE apart from organizations seeking to address youth unemployment.

  • Local leadership, global support:

Each EFE affiliate is locally-run and locally-supported, to achieve sustainable operations customized to the local context. EFE affiliates leverage resources and know-how through our global network.

  • Powerful multi-stakeholder partnerships:

We engage youth, local business leaders, corporations, educators, civil society and governments in partnerships that produce job commitments and entrepreneurship support.

  • Market-driven:

We create training programs for areas of the economy that offer strong growth potential and opportunities but currently lack suitably-qualified personnel.

  • Job Outcomes:

EFE measures its success in job outcomes, targeting an 85 percent placement rate of graduates in jobs by actively encouraging employers to pre-commit job placements and co-sponsor our graduates.

  • Alumni Support:

EFE stays in close contact with alumni, providing continued support through mentoring, civic engagement programming, alumni networks and international exchanges.

  • International Recognition:

Awarded the Schwab Award for Social Entrepreneurship at the World Economic Forum Meeting of New Champions in Tianjin, China in 2012, EFE has received global recognition.  The impact of EFE’s work has been discussed at the World Economic Forum (WEF), the United Nations (UN), Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) and in global media including the Economist, Financial Times, New York Times, TIME Magazine, CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, PBS, Bloomberg News, and the Harvard Business Review.
