Boeing and Education for Employment Egypt Announce Partnership to Empower Unemployed Youth in Egypt

Boeing and Education For Employment (EFE), the leading youth employment organization linking youth to jobs in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), have expanded their partnership to create job and economic opportunities for unemployed youth in Egypt. The partnership reflects Boeing and EFE’s shared belief that with the right skills and economic opportunities, young men and women can secure jobs or start businesses that transform their lives, uplift their families, and lay the foundation for prosperous societies.

With over 30% of Egyptian youth unable to find a job, the EFE Egypt-Boeing partnership aims to address the pervasive issue of youth unemployment in Egypt through its globally-recognized Job Placement Training Program (JPTP) and Career Directions (CD) programs. Through Boeing's support, EFE Egypt will provide 100 unemployed youth in Greater Cairo with access to high-quality, market-driven job training and placement programs to support youth in acquiring the skills needed in the Egyptian labor market, and then link them to formal job opportunities with ongoing professional development support. EFE Egypt will also strengthen the employability skills of over 350 underprivileged university students in Greater Cairo through its Career Directions program, which teaches youth CV writing, job searching, and interview skills. Additionally, Boeing and EFE Egypt will carry out a large-scale awareness campaign aimed at increasing youth awareness of the resource and tactics they can use to overcome barriers to employment. The Job Placement Training Program targets unemployed youth aged 18–30 from public universities or local technical training institutes and from marginalized backgrounds.

Anis Aclimandos, Chairman of the Board of EFE Egypt, commented that, “We are honored to be partnering with Boeing in an endeavor to ensure that more Egyptian youth are equipped with the skills required for prosperous employment, career progression, and job retention, while also helping businesses in Egypt secure competent employees necessary for the success of a business.”

Roula Droubi, Regional Director of Government, Industrial and Community Engagement of Boeing in the Middle East and North Africa, remarked that, “Boeing works with organizations like EFE to reduce unemployment and develop the workforce in marginalized communities. We are excited to see the launch of this program and the impact it will have on Egyptian youth.”

The EFE Egypt and Boeing partnership builds on successful collaboration between EFE and Boeing that first launched in Jordan in 2015. Through two rounds of support from Boeing, Jordan EFE has prepared over 75 unemployed Jordanian youth with the skills they need to succeed in jobs in retail sales and customer service, and 79% of the graduates were employed within three months of completing the program. In 2017, the Boeing – EFE Network regional partnership will expand to impact youth in Jordan, Egypt, and Morocco.
