The “Building Algerian Youth’s Future II” (BAYF II) project was successfully completed on March 31st. Thanks to the UK Government through its Embassy in Algeria, a total of 411 young women and men in Béchar gained vital soft, technical and entrepreneurship skills to join the labour market or create their new businesses.
A special focus was given to the green economy, including through training in waste management or aquaculture, in light of the emerging opportunities for youth in this sector.
The project also centered on ensuring local sustainability, appropriation and ownership, with three Training of Trainers held for 30 local trainers and two Regional Fora for Youth Employment (FOREB) organised in Béchar with attendees representing over 25 public and private stakeholders to discuss current labour market trends, education, youth employment and entrepreneurship and identify actions for inclusive and sustainable economic growth and further opportunities for youth in Béchar in growing sectors, including the green economy.
