With only a high school degree, 34 year-old Hind Khalid Albawardi struggled for over a year to find work. That changed when she connected with Education For Employment (EFE). Here’s her story:
“I have big goals, and I know that they’re achievable. Today I’m living in Riyadh, my hometown. After I finished high school here, I was unemployed for a whole year before finding out about EFE. With my family’s support, I took their Workplace Success Program funded by Citi Foundation.
I learned work skills and more importantly, it motivated me to seek to better myself and gain more experience. The program was high-quality – it opened my eyes and we learned skills that I didn’t find at other training programs. I especially loved meeting other ladies that are eager to start their careers in a successful way.
After I graduated, EFE placed me in a job at Olayan Food Services. I started at the bottom of the ladder in 2016, and today I supervise a team. I’m proud to be a Saudi woman leader, and EFE’s high standards helped me take my job really seriously. The program made me want to be an active contributor where I work, so I focus on being knowledgeable and developing my skills.
My job has made my family proud of me, and I’m excited to fulfil my goal in supporting other women to find suitable jobs.”
