EFE is pleased to announce the promotion of Abbey Walsh to the role of Senior Education & Training Manager. Known for her passion and creativity, Abbey has been a driving force in EFE's mission to empower youth through hands-on employment-focused training. In this expanded role, Abbey will continue to leverage her extensive expertise in adult learning pedagogy, human-centered design, and participatory approaches.

“I believe deeply in the power of young people to change the world. In this new role, I look forward to collaborating with colleagues, trainers, and participants to create inclusive and accessible learning opportunities that pave the way for brighter futures in MENA.” - Abbey Walsh

Since joining the organization in 2018, Abbey has brought a dynamic approach to learning and development. Abbey’s impact has been far-reaching, including the creation of a comprehensive 75-hour entrepreneurship curriculum and establishing EFE’s first Learning Management System (LMS) that currently serves over 5,500 learners. Her commitment to inclusive education is evident in her leadership of safeguarding initiatives that ensure the well-being of 20,000 participants and 500 staff and trainers every year. Abbey has also advanced efforts to improve trainer engagement and retention by fostering a culture of peer learning and collaboration.

Abbey holds a master’s degree in Power, Participation, and Social Change from the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex and a bachelor’s degree in International Studies from American University. She also earned a certificate in Learning Design from New York University.

Abbey’s journey in international development began with the Peace Corps, where she spent over three years managing youth programs in rural Morocco, boosting girls' participation rates and leading inclusive initiatives. During this time, Abbey also gained professional fluency in Moroccan Arabic.

Beyond her professional contributions, Abbey’s enthusiasm for community building continues within the United States. She lives in Brooklyn, New York, with her tuxedo cat Lennon, and is an active member of her local ceramics studio and the Prospect Park Women’s Softball League, where she coaches and plays for her team, the Ducks.
